Way back in 2010 we started Badass Outdoors touring the western United States in a thirty foot motor home. We spent two years in our adventure rig where we housed ourselves, our personal gear, and our meager inventory. Traveling from Arizona to Utah, Colorado to New Mexico, and making a frequent jaunts to Yosemite, our time off was spent rafting the Grand Canyon. Admittedly, we played much harder than we worked, and that's how we knew we were living the Badass lifestyle!
As we grew from two ship dates a year to two a month; and our display went from three tables to eight, we knew it was time to get serious. We threw together a website and started looking for a brick and mortar location for The Badasss Outdoors Gear Shop. The American West that we knew and loved was noticeably saturated with specialty outdoors stores of all kinds. We knew we had a unique take on outdoor retail so we continued to seek a fresh and yet undiscovered locale.
We traveled to The White Mountains of New Hampshire and immediately fell in love with Franconia Notch and the Presidential Range.
We scoured all of the main drags from North Conway to Lincoln in search of available store fronts. Laden with data, we then sought a quiet place to crunch our numbers when we stumbled across Littleton's Oasis Restaurant and decided to have a drink. Less than an hour chatting and toasting with the locals we were convinced that Littleton's Main Street would be our final destination.
The warmth of the town's people, and their passion for outdoors, was amazing! Having the Ammonoosuc River flowing through downtown, both Bretton Woods and Cannon Mountain within fifteen minutes of our front door, and the Whites just a frisbee throw away, were only further evidence that Littleton was no longer a mill-town in mourning, but a mountain-town in the making!!
